Scar Therapy - Upton upon Severn & Malvern, Worcestershire
I am an experienced scar therapist with a genuine passion for working with scar tissue and supporting healing after surgery, injury or trauma.
I have trained with Restore Scar Therapy, ScarWork and HLP Therapy and I have worked with a wide range of scars, from new surgical scars to long standing scars. I love the work I do and find it incredibly rewarding to support people through the changes that scar therapy can bring both physically and emotionally, helping them feel more at ease in their bodies.

Scar Therapy is a gentle, specialised hands on treatment designed to improve the comfort, function and appearance of scar tissue. Sometimes also known as scar massage or scarwork.

When the body heals it forms scar tissue that is different from normal skin. Scar tissue can be thicker, less flexible and can bind layers of skin, fascia, muscle and connective tissue together. This can create restrictions that affect movement, comfort, posture, and wellbeing.
Scar tissue may contribute to:
- Tightness or pulling sensations
- Pain or discomfort
- Restricted movement or stiffness
- Numbness, tingling, or sensitivity
- Weakness or poor muscle activation
- Postural changes or compensation patterns
- Emotional or body-image concerns after surgery or trauma

Scar therapy may help to:
Reduce pain, tightness, and discomfort

Improve mobility, flexibility and function

Release adhesions and restrictions between tissue layers
Improve circulation and lymphatic drainage
Support nerve healing and sensation
Encourage healthy collagen remodelling
Soften and flatten raised or thickened scars

FAQ about Scar Therapy

Testimonial - Hilary treated me for Scar Massage, after I had a Caesarean section. I honestly think all women who have had c sections, should go and get their scar treated by Hilary! The treatment has made the area significantly less tight and restrictive, and I’m sure that it will have had a lot of benefit in the deeper layers of muscle and tissue. Caesareans are such major surgery and we ladies are left with little to no support afterwards, and the impact of this surgery can affect us on so many levels. Hilary is very knowledgable, kind, welcoming and non-judgemental. I appreciate it’s hard to get your tummy out post-baby, but Hilary makes you feel very much at ease and relaxed. Highly recommended. - Steph R
When can I start scar therapy after surgery?
Scar therapy can usually begin once the wound is fully closed and there are no signs of infection or scabs. However you may like to consider MLD / post op care in the meantime.

Can scar therapy help old scars?
Yes absolutely! Scar therapy can improve scars that are many years or decades old, and I have seen some remarkable changes.

Does scar therapy hurt?
Scar therapy should not be painful. Techniques are gentle and adapted to your comfort.

How many scar therapy sessions will I need?
This depends on the scar’s age, size, location, and your goals. A course of sessions usually provides the best results however some people find the changes and advice given at one appointment is suitable for them.

What types of scars do you treat?
All sorts of scars can be treated for example; cesarean-section scars, surgical scars, oncology scars, gender-affirming surgery scars, trauma scars, burns, and more.

Do I need to remove clothing?
Only the area being treated needs to be exposed. Your privacy is always respected.

Can I do anything at home to help my scar?
Yes. You will receive guidance on self-care and scar massage techniques.

How do I book scar therapy?
